About Us
Deep Rooted Beauty began as Layla Threading of Montana, a family-owned venture in September 2016. Founded with a blend of passion and expertise with nearly a dozen in California, The family called Montana their home away from home due to part of the family being Flathead natives. One cousin made the initial investment, another mastered the art of threading and took on the role of manager, while their aunt contributed her experience as a seasoned salon owner. Over nearly eight years in Kalispell, the shop experienced a roller coaster of successes and challenges, navigating everything from the trials of COVID-19 to shifts in management that made the future seem uncertain in 2023.
Amidst these challenges, the cousin who invested initially passed on full ownership to the one who had poured her heart and soul into building a business deep rooted in the community. Allowing her to fully embrace her creative vision. This transition wasn't without its struggles, but it sparked a transformation. We chose to rebrand, and Deep Rooted Beauty was born—a new dream planted with the hope of a future filled with beautiful growth.
Services
Currently and always, our focus is on threading—a natural and highly effective method of facial hair removal that offers numerous benefits, including being good for the skin and contributing to anti-aging. Building on this foundation, we aim to introduce a concept that is currently missing in the Valley: a holistic anti-aging spa type environment.
Our vision is to create a space that prioritizes healthy beauty, free from injectables and harsh chemicals. We believe in delivering real results through treatments that are as naturally minded as possible, making healthy beauty accessible without the high costs.
By staying true to these principles, we strive to offer an alternative that promotes genuine, lasting beauty. By the end of 2024, we plan to expand our offerings with a high-quality red light therapy room, salt therapy products, essential oils and more. Additionally, we will introduce a retail space dedicated to products that nurture a healthy mind, body, and soul. Our goal is to provide a holistic approach to beauty, offering treatments and products that align with our commitment to natural, effective, and accessible beauty and health solutions.

Family Roots
Stephanie Eklund, a Tennessee native, was following her artistic passion with a degree in Fashion Design, studying in Italy, and interning at a prestigious fashion house when a twist of fate changed her path. On a flight in 2005, she found herself seated next to the love of her life, David Eklund, a Lakeside, Montana native. After spending years between eight different states, they decided to leave the fast-paced, big city life behind, opting for a quieter life in the mountains to raise a family. The Flathead Valley became their chosen home to raise their two beautiful children, Victoria and Joseph.
Stephanie’s lifelong passion for beauty stems from her journey to feel beautiful inside and out. With a background in Southern debutante pageantry and training in art and fashion, her pursuit of beauty was deeply personal. Born with a cleft palate, she underwent numerous surgeries throughout her life, primarily on her face. These experiences left her jaded by the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Her time overseas, where she encountered vastly different beauty standards, further shaped her unique perspective on beauty—one that can’t be taught.
It was threading that profoundly impacted Stephanie’s confidence in her skin and sparked her curiosity. In 2016, during a challenging time as her son faced the same birth defect and surgeries, Stephanie found solace in learning this ancient art. She trained for six months under one of the top threaders from New Delhi, India. Her artistic background began to shape a new dream—one that aligned perfectly with her growing passion for holistic beauty.
Though this path wasn’t planned, it felt destined. With support from her cousins in California, who ran successful threading shops in Los Angeles, and her mother-in-law, Cindy Eklund, a revered hairstylist in the Valley for over 40 years, Stephanie's vision started to take form. Over the years, her desire to create a niche market for holistic, healthy beauty solutions grew stronger. This dream became Deep Rooted Beauty—a sanctuary dedicated to providing naturally-minded beauty services and products that truly work, without the overwhelming selections or prices.
Now, as the go-to threading shop, we welcome new clients daily and are proud to see our family business thrive. As we grow, our vision expands beyond threading. We aim to offer a variety of holistic wellness services, including red light therapy, touchless hydro-massage, and salt therapy, along with a curated selection of retail products to support your healthy beauty regimen at home. Our goal is to create a comprehensive beauty experience, helping you feel your best inside and out.
